Ways to Save During the Holidays

With regular expenses, gifts, events, and donations, this time of year can be pretty costly. So, I’ve created a short list of ways to save during the holiday season 🙂

  1. My first suggestion is to create a budget. Make a list of everything you need for this season, including people you buy gifts for. Whether its your grandmother, your significant other, or a Secret Santa gift for a coworker, it helps to plan ahead.
  2. Be reasonable when buying gifts. I enjoy being able to give my loved ones the things they want and need. I love being able to surprise them with meaningful presents. However, this year, I had to keep my savings goals in mind and opt for still-amazing-but-not-so-expensive gifts. Your loved ones will still love you, regardless.
  3. Don’t wait until the last minute to begin Christmas shopping! I personally like to start shopping in November. But, many people start shopping in October. Shopping early relieves the stress of having to buy everything at one time. Although this tip would have been helpful months ago, it’s a good idea to keep in mind for the future.
  4. Take advantage of deals and coupons. Stores are constantly having sales and unique offers during this time of year. Chances are, some of the things you need are likely at a discounted price. Do your research!
  5. Don’t forget to breathe. The holidays can be overwhelming, but don’t forget to take time for the things that really matter. Enjoy this season. And remember, the best gift has already been given.

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
Luke 2:11 NIV

Praying for a joyous holiday season for you and yours.
